This was built for SUNY New Paltz's production of She Kills Monsters. I built the wings for Farrah the Fairy. I built them from millinery wire, white hug-snug, floral tape, silver ribbon, gros-grain, and a sheer drapey fabric.
Costume of Farrah the Fairy. Dress made by Kaitlyn Kociela-Taylor, Costume Shop Manager.
Wing template and wire frame. Wire frame is made from floral tape and brown paper wrapped wire.
Wire frames for both wings, side by side.
We decided to wrap both frames in white hug snug to smooth it out and give a good surface to stitch the draped fabric to.
Straps were constructed of 1 inch gros grain, and sheathed in the same fabric draped on the wings and dress. The exposed frame was also wrapped in a silver ribbon.
